Urban Poetics

I am an international development consultant and Social Sculpture PhD researcher/practitioner working at the crossroads of migration, culture and social inclusion. My practice centres on the African philosophy of Ubuntu (humanity) to create innovative approaches to, ARTivism & Cultural advocacy for civic enlivenment amongst migrant and less visible/less heard communities. My doctoral Social Sculpture research practice entitled ‘Evoking Belonging’, is a Participatory Governance practice focussing on deepening democracy through civic enlivenment. I work with the imagination and the social-cultural fabric in urban spaces to enable diverse participation and Regenerative city building.
As a researcher, I co-create with others through social Sculpture and connective practice offering multi-sensory transformative approaches towards Ecological Citizenship.
My work specifically references to the socio-cultural dimensions of Participatory governance, the imagination and citizen agency in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
It is anchored in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically: Goal 11: ‘Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable’, and Goal16: ‘Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels’.
